Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-15
ChatDa ("we", "us") is a job platform built for foreigners living in or moving to Korea. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We try to keep it short and concrete.
1. What we collect
When you sign in with Google we receive:
- Your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account.
When you fill in your job profile we store the answers you provide:
- Nationality, visa type, current location, country of residence, arrival date.
- Top job-search priority (e.g. visa sponsorship, immediate income).
- Korean (self-assessed) and English levels, TOPIK level if any, native language.
- Education: highest degree, school, major.
- Job preferences: roles you're looking for, salary expectations, preferred work locations, remote preference, employment type, available start date, short intro.
- Optional professional and social media links you choose to add.
When you use the platform we record:
- Jobs you like, comments and replies you post, reactions you give to other comments.
- Basic technical data (IP address, browser, timestamps) needed to operate the service and protect against abuse.
2. How we use it
- Show you relevant job listings and surface match indicators (visa, language) on each posting.
- Display your name, comments, and (if you keep the privacy toggle on) profile badges to other signed-in users.
- Operate the service: authentication, security, debugging, abuse prevention.
- Aggregate, anonymized statistics to improve the platform (e.g. "how many users selected visa-sponsorship as priority").
3. Sharing
We do not sell your data. We share it only in these specific situations:
- Other ChatDa members: your name, comments, and profile badges (subject to your privacy settings) are visible to signed-in users on the platform.
- Employers: only when you take action yourself. Today this means you contact a listed employer directly using the contact information on a job post — we do not push your profile to employers automatically. If we ever introduce an opt-in feature to share profiles with employers, you will be asked for explicit consent first.
- Service providers: Google (sign-in), our hosting provider (Cloudflare for delivery), and Postgres database hosted on infrastructure we operate. These providers process data on our behalf only.
- Legal compliance: if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process.
4. Storage and security
- Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database we operate. The application is served from infrastructure based in Korea.
- Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) via Cloudflare.
- Database access is restricted to the operator and is not exposed publicly.
- We retain account data while your account is active. You can request deletion at any time (see below).
5. Your rights
- Access & edit: edit your job profile any time from
/jobs/profileor the Profile page. - Privacy badge toggle: turn off the visa / nationality / TOPIK badges next to your comments at any time.
- Delete: email us at [email protected] to delete your account and associated data. We'll confirm within 7 days.
- Export: email the same address to request a copy of your data.
- If you're in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with stronger data rights, you also have the rights granted by your local law (GDPR access/erasure/objection/portability). Contact us to exercise them.
6. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies that are necessary to operate the service: authentication session (NextAuth), CSRF protection, and the admin session if you're an administrator. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking.
7. Children
ChatDa is intended for adults aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 18. If you believe a minor has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
8. International users
ChatDa serves foreigners in Korea, but our users come from many countries. By using the service you understand that your data is processed in Korea. Where required by law in your home country (e.g. GDPR), we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms and the consent you provide when signing up.
9. Changes
If we make material changes to this policy we'll update the "Last updated" date and notify you by email or in-app banner before the changes take effect.
10. Contact
